Pros

Initially, employment was great. Employees were very friendly and respectful for the most part, and did their job well with high degrees of skill. Upper management was understanding and pool manager was a great person to work with. Pay is decent, benefits were suprisingly good for what would be considered a minimum wage job (free entry to all YMCA owned facilities). Workforce caters to a younger audience, which can be a good thing as it encourages the building of relationships amongst staff and student, as well as promoting work-life balance.

Cons

Pool manager changed, management became more about power and control than actually looking after staff. Obscene requests regarding casual workload and poor tracking and reporting, asking the same two-three people to cover shifts of those away, rather than actually employing staff, but then cutting the same shifts of staff just hired. Expecations to work even when interpersonal events (including death)/medical issues arise, with the use of a 'facade' to hide sorrow. Class enrolment dropped dramatically and 'staffing issues' was used as an excuse. Most of the people who were highly respectable went elsewhere, and 17 year old students were used as replacements without adequate training.
