Pros

CEO tries hard to improve the hospitals reputation as a healthcare provider and employer.

Cons

Despite his attempts, there are several departments within the hospital that are toxic work envrionments and middle management takes long strides to keep this fact from senior management. There is a lot of talk but no action. I was bullied by my supervisor daily as were several employees before me. Many complained to HR but nothing was done.

Pros

I have worked in the Lab in DeKalb for over 7 years. Salary and benefits are decent. Campus and newer hospital look very nice. Frank Lloyd Wright design is trendy and makes patients and visitors feel like it's an upscale hotel experience. Administration states that they want to be the employer of choice in DeKalb County.

Cons

In the laboratory there is blatant bullying and favoritism. Medical technologists, phlebotomists, specimen processors, histotechs, and lead techs have all been openly targeted by supervisors and lab management. Promotions are given thru favoritism and not based on expertise or years of experience; rather than recruit a qualified candidate, they put the only person they want on the position in place. Lab employees are treated disrespectfully by co-workers within the department and outside the lab. Lab management and supervisory staff do not back up their employees, rather look for a target employee to shame and blame. The lab has had the lowest employee satisfaction scores on the system for over 6 years, but nothing changes: management blames the staff for being negative and although the turnover rate in the lab is the highest in the health system, the same management and supervisory staff that are creating the problems are retained and even promoted.
