This was my final email to the VP who was also my manager:
"I want to take a moment to share some direct feedback about my experience at Kitu, particularly regarding how my departure was handled.
As my manager, I found it highly unusual that we went nearly 10 months without a single one-on-one meeting—regardless of how busy things may have been for you. Then, when you finally did speak with me, the conversation lasted only a few minutes and consisted of a terse statement that I was being let go.
What I found especially disappointing was the complete lack of acknowledgment for my three and a half years of hard work, dedication, and consistent contributions. To make matters worse, I wasn’t even given the opportunity to say goodbye to my team, which made the experience feel abrupt, impersonal, and deeply disheartening.
What stood out most was the absence of empathy and professionalism in how the situation was handled. I’m sharing this with the hope that it provides meaningful perspective for the future. While I’ve already shared these thoughts with HR, I felt it was important that you hear them directly from me as well."
