Pros

Decent pay but only paid for actual time with patient. You may be scheduled an 8 hour day but get paid for less due to drive time. You do not get paid for the time you are driving in between patients which could be up to 2 or more hours per day.

Cons

This is one of the worst jobs I've ever held. I was very eager to make a difference in children's lives. Management was very nice and friendly during interview but quickly changed. Employees are spoken down to and owner is often condensending. Owner tells employees what they are allowed and not allowed to say to other employees and patients. Not allowed to have their own opinions. Promotions and job placement promises are made but not kept. If you are unhappy with anything .... keep it to yourself. If you tell management it will be held against you. Experience owner lying to employees and patients and even under oath to protect herself. I've never had problems with an employer until I worked here. High turn over rate and I can see why. Employees are not allowed to request off at all during the summer. Does not matter your reason. Employees have no paid vacation or sick time. Only paid for hours you actually are with a patient. If your patient goes on vacation or is sick you don't get paid and can actually go weeks without a paycheck. If you have 2 patients in the same day and have to drive between sites you are not on the clock during those drives. I would never recommend the knapp center for employment or services.

Pros

The pay is decent. And you will gain a great deal of experience working in the Autism population.

Cons

No paid time off or vacation time at all. Raises are not yearly and are small. Not likely in the future. Constant changes in policy as well as working conditions. h High expectations for staff, yet management does not reciprocate. There is a general unspoken rule, do not make any complaints, or deal with what seems like very vindictive management style. No adherence to the population preference that they will ask you about. High turnover rate.

Pros

The pay rate is nice. You gain a lot of hands on experience in working with autistic children, and you learn a lot about ABA. The work you do with the children is very beneficial.

Cons

The administration is highly condescending and contributes to a very micromanaged work environment. There are constant policy and procedure changes, which are often unreasonable to keep up with. There are rare times of positive praise for the employees, but criticism is almost expected at every turn. There is little room for advancement, and the annual pay increases are small and not at all reflective of the amount of work you put into your job.
