Pros

The majority of the associates are genuinely lovely

Cons

The place is weirder than you could ever imagine. I completely agree with the other reviews which say that the way Knights sell themselves is entirely different to the reality. Be honest and open by all means but you can never say anything which the management team disagree with or you will be fired. All law firms have problems and you may be reading this thinking it can’t be worse than your current firm. I did exactly the same and found out it could be so much worse! People seem to disappear with no notice and for no real reason other than the management team has decided they are not the right “fit” or they have said something they don’t like. The usual gripes you have with a law firm, the odd nightmare associate/partner, long working hours etc, really do pale into insignifcance when you are sitting wondering if you have a job from one day to the next. I wasn’t fired but the whole atmosphere was too unbearable to stay. There is no training, no development plans and no real interest in your career. You’re solely there to make money for the management team. Hopefully there are enough reviews here now so people don’t take an unfortunate detour on their careers to Knights I’m not even going to mention the pay/benefits because it’s dreadful but nothing compared to the damage to your career and self worth is in my opinion

Pros

Some nice people if you can avoid the petty hierarchy.

Cons

Redundancies without consultation. Pay cuts without consultation but they paid a dividend to the CEO and investors a few weeks before. New recruits get as little as one month to prove themselves before getting sacked. Don’t give up a secure job to come here as you’ll regret it. Lots of noise about recruitment but there are at least the same number of people leaving every month. The nonsense spouted at interview is nothing like reality. All Knights want is to get your clients in and then treat them as cash cows until they can take no more. It is all about maintaining share price so the CEO, his family and his cronies can sell their shares as soon as they’re allowed to. People desperate to leave and will as soon as the pandemic is over. Investors beware because the wheels are coming off soon. Everybody in the business has seen through the CEO and management team who are now objects of ridicule.

A Distinct Culture of Blame and Deceit

Pros

Alas I am at a loss to fix of any pros.

Cons

I have had a horrendous experience working under the Knights PLC banner. Following our firm's takeover, we experienced the whole 'Marketing' speech which consisted of the CEO explaining they are a driven company with clear goals and wanted to be the biggest legal firm in the country. A promising outlook, but that is all. Nothing can prepare you for the poor handling of staff, deceitful tactics and ignorance towards people's well-being. To begin with, Knights CEO's, HR, their managers and team leaders offer no guidance or assistance. They are UNWILLING to help train staff, or guide their staff in the way they wish for matters to be handled. You will find that your work is scrutinised and they will find fault in the faultless but not offer reasoning or ways to improve. On many occasions you may not be informed of the problem until it is too late. How can your employees learn or develop if training is not offered, or even a development plan. To put it bluntly, you will not be supported. Working at Knights PLC you will find yourself facing consistent allegations (which are not brought to you to discuss). You will find that your only means of communication are your teammates. Managers, Team Leaders and HR are not interested in developing you as a member of their staff, let alone communicating with you. You will find that they will allege your are not contactable and lie that they do not have any contact details for you. I'm sorry but how can this be possible when all managers have contact details for their staff? Funny how you can prove that no-one has tried to contact you but they are not prepared to look at evidence that highlights their own negligence. They will even allege you are not performing as expected when you are not provided with tools to do your job. You are even expected to complete your work using personal items, without being able to claim back. For example; calling premium rate numbers on a personal mobile with no option to claim back on expenses? There is a distinctive culture of blame which operates in the company like a parasitic organism. When you raise issues to managers or HR, your issues will be twisted against you and manipulated to make it look as though you are at fault. As mentioned above, even if you have evidence of your issues, they are not prepared to listen, only protect themselves and the CEO's uncompromising business plan from a reality of inner failings and truths about the parasitic inner workings. The HR department are unable to deal with staff or address issues, instead will work with managers to prepare a cover-up story and irregardless of personal mental health, proceed to blame and bully staff. You can not have a conversation with HR, you will be dictated at and hastily given your dismissal without being given an appeals process. When you question Knight's HR Department on certain aspects of any allegation or how they have investigated your concerns, you will be greeted with comments such as 'I don't know how they tried to contact you... but they say they have' or 'You are saying someone who has worked here for many years is rude? I don't believe you.' To put it in simple terms for anyone who wishes to apply here, or is currently working there, I would advise look elsewhere. Save yourself hours of stress, a lack of support, emotional turmoil and prevent yourself from being abused, bullied and neglected by parasitic business practices.
