Kodi Connect Response

Thanks for your review. We would like to respond briefly for clarity - especially as this was posted several months after your departure, so it may help you with closure. It is also important to ensure future candidates have an accurate understanding of the environment at Kodi Connect. Training: You received months of one-on-one support from multiple team members. While we don’t have a dedicated training specialist (which is typical for small teams), our training approach -led by those actively doing the job, is often more effective. Everyone learns differently, and our personalized style may not have worked for you. Your previous role was more structured (similar to a call center) so it’s understandable that transitioning to a more autonomous, creative environment may have felt uncomfortable. Multiple people training/helping you may have felt like mixed feedback, but that’s because this role is about dealing with people - we cannot teach certain foundational communication skills. As it wasn’t natural for you, it simply wasn’t the right role - and that’s okay. Nobody needs to be blamed for it not working out. Micromanagement: You were given a high level of independence. More structured guidance was only introduced later, after continued struggles with basic tasks. That’s part of training - it was support, not pressure. We’re confident the entire team would agree: for anyone who’s independent, honest, open to learn and has the basic skill sets required, there is zero micromanagement here. Work/life balance: You listed remote work and flexibility as positives, so it’s unclear how this conflicted with balance. More likely, the stress came from the role not being a fit, rather than from the company’s culture. Feedback: You received regular, constructive feedback and had open access to communicate at any time. And yes - after months of training and support, if someone still isn’t able to perform the basics of the role, we’re left with the difficult decision to part ways. That’s extremely rare. We’re not focused on perfection - we value effort, kindness, positivity, and a willingness to grow. If those traits aren’t consistently showing after three months of probation, followed by additional months of personalized support, it’s fair to agree the role isn’t the right fit. Even then, we gave you plenty of notice and extended additional pay to support your job search - something most companies would not do. We left on good terms, and we hope you remember that. We wish you the best.

No Guidance or Real Structure

Pros

You were remote, got to travel to different cities, face to face with executives, leading roundtables.

Cons

Basically all the cons are managerial and just negative business functionality. The owners are a couple but they won’t tell you. Thats fine but there is no seperation church and state. Everyone has a “specific way to do things” but it is usually just Linkedin messaging so you are expected to come in and make the same if not higher quota numbers than the ladies who have been there for 4-5 years (who already know industry people and are connected and messaged before.) They also have random accounts for employees who tbh idk if all of them are real because we log into “their” google and linkedin accounts to message contacts which was weird and just felt like i was scamming in a round about way. It was advertised as a events role but it is a sales role. It really is just prospecting executive c levels in cybersecurity. Its fine if you enjoy prospecting but you better be at your computer every minute of every hour from 9-5 and if you step away you better log in that you are away and start the countdown timer. Overall, it felt like a unorganized mess, no structure, yet a “do it this way & idk why you arent making numbers if I am” mentality. They do well organizing round tables but truly it is a chaotic stressbubble working for them. Also, I think they have multiple reviews from those “fake gmails/ employees” so be weary of the messages using heavy (-) em dashes. (Only my opinion).

Pros

I worked at Kodi helping with all aspects of planning and running the events I loved the culture. Really small company and everyone is super friendly and enjoys what they do I learned so much. Marketing, Communication - the whole planning and work required in corporate events. Leadership & my direct report were so nice to me from the beginning. I always felt I could speak to them about anything and they always cared how I feel. There's so much to learn I made loads of mistakes at the beginning but the whole environment was supportive. Company feedback was regularly shared so we all had a voice to help the company grow and improve. Weekly team Kudos to celebrate colleague successes. Everyone seemed really proud of the company and brand - their events are really successful and clients love them. Definitely superior event organizer compared to their competition. Loads of technology to learn and use which helped me really become fast and efficient in planning and operations. Completely remote position. I loved not having to drive to work. Managed to do a lot of travelling to different cities. I loved the chance to see so many different hotels. I always loved having funny chats with colleagues over slack and video. Great benefits - laptop, phone, 401k, Health, Vision, Dental, Maternity Leave - basically all public holidays are off!

Cons

Travel is optional and even though I loved it, it can be tough sometimes to as I had a cat at home that I didn't like to leave. Fully remote is great but its sometimes really hard when you just dont leave the house. I sometimes missed the office chats! Everyone is good at what they do so it can feel demotivating trying to keep up when you start! Some event guests are rude - you can help them with registration and they just ignore you!
