Pros

The few people in the organisation who actually do things - they deserve a happy afterlife!

Cons

I've handed in my notice and am leaving soon, but I believe this is a fair and accurate reflection of L&Q and in particular the IT department. Imagine playing pin the tail to the donkey, except there is no donkey, and you don't have a tail. That pretty much sums up working in the L&Q IT department. The lack of direction in the organisation, and particularly in IT, is astounding. Management breathlessly run around, randomly shouting things like "Agile", "Surface Pros" and "Pilot" and then scurry away. The stream of consciousness approach to tackling the fundamental issues in IT department frustrate both those working in the department, and the more importantly the business at large. No clear and explicit communication to the business about the IT Strategy compounds the situation. There are way too many directors, assistant directors, managers, team leaders etc. Given the lack of a cohesive IT Strategy, each of these interprets the chaotic message from the top in their own way, leading to conflicting projects, an inconsistent approach to governance, and divergent technologies being used. The fact that Product Owners, who were brought into the the business recently, had to meet to discuss what they would actually be doing (yes, really) tells you all you need to know about L&Q. My ire is particularly reserved for those at top, who have consistently show that they are more interested in hearing their own voices than listening. Any idiot can shout their mouth off, but the real skill in leadership is the ability to listen and act on the concerns of both your staff and stakeholders.

Pros

Non that I can think of - I need to start looking for another position

Cons

Everything - we're over worked, talked to like we're rubbish and worst of all we were told that we have to complete the glass door best places to work survey and if we made it into the list we'd receive our bonuses, if we didn't we won't get them. I can't stress enough how horrible this place is. As a female, the male managers talk to me like I'm rubbish and regardless of the fact I manage 300+ properties, I often have to stay late and come in early this isn't enough. I'm looking for a new job now as everyone hates it here, it isn't a positive place to work.

Pros

Some of the people are nice, decent salary, leave allowance ok, pension and benefits good, attempts at providing training..just not the training requested!

Cons

Exec members and senior managers behave like they are in kindergarten- playground politics, backstabbing and fighting like small kids. The chief exec talks a good talk but needs to get a grip..the organisation is going through a merger...no one feels like being positive or getting on your bus right now. The fact that you are always maintaining positivity shows just how completely out of touch you are with what is going on around you - your staff have completely lost respect for you (no ability to show empathy) and you are going to find it very difficult to regain their trust. The work is quite frankly insulting to professionals with an actual career path. You will not gain good experience from working here.
