Pros

The employees at Lance Mason are warm and friendly people. The Induction is well structured and thorough. The systems and training is brilliant.

Cons

Majority of the senior management have little respect and care for their employees, unless your are on track to hit target that quarter; they don't want to know you if your not bringing in the money. The gold award in investors in people is an absolute farce; only the management's favourite employees were interviewed by the panel; therefore not a true reflection of 75% of the employees. All the promises and activities that took place during the week they were assessed by investors in people was an act. The operations director needs to brush up on her interpersonal skills and acknowledge that employees at lance mason are not primary school students who need to be yelled at week after week. My time at Lance Mason was a nightmare. I was made to feel worthless and my team were treated as school children who were not capable of progression. I would come home upset on at least 3 of the 5 working days, mainly because of the way someone in our team was spoken to by management or for feeling like I was not going to progress with my career at Lance Mason. Unfulfilled promises in respect of progression and salary. The pay is abysmal. I was paid £14,000.00 for working 8.5 hours and overtime (which went unnoticed and unappreciated); whereas other people (management's favourite) on the same team were paid more 3-5 k more. The HR personnel is very unprofessional. An employee was accused of lying when she was off sick for a stomach bug; just because her symptoms changed on the second day. The employee had a good case for constructive dismissal but the employee left on her own will as she was fed up of being bullied by the HR department. For those people with law degrees looking for a promising in the law profession, i strongly advice you to stay clear from Lance Mason; they will crush your confidence and shatter your dreams into a million pieces. I am now working for a company where I look forward to coming into work. Although I have more responsibilities I come home with a smile on my face as the management are supportive.

“ We would reiterate the comments made in response to the posting dated the 12 May. The panel of members interviewed by the IIP was chosen completely at random, with no prior preparation. The feedback from the members was entirely anonymous. A significant proportion of our staff have achieved excellent bonuses over recent quarters. Further we have awarded staff with holidays including New York and Barcelona together with numerous other incentives as a reflection of their hard work. The framework for bonuses is entirely transparent and achievable. We actively support our members career aspirations. As evidence of the same we have awarded 7 training contracts over the past 3 years. Three of those members have subsequently qualified as solicitors and remain with us. The 4 others will qualify with us in due course. I refute the assertions made in these postings. There appears to be a pattern in the timing and nature of the same. I would be happy to discuss any further queries arising from these reviews” Mark Fallon: Chief Operating Officer, Lance Mason Solicitors

Pros

Good office \ working environment. Free car park. They have an induction process that lasts a week.

Cons

They make promises about salary increases and bonus which they never keep. Set stupid targets that are impossible to reach. Have an enormous staff turnover. The HR department is really terrible run by a particularly unpleasant member of staff.

"As a business we take the welfare of our members extremely seriously. We were proud to be awarded Investors in People Gold in August 2014 – this gave a clear reflection of the hugely positive feedback provided by our team. We were also thrilled to win the High Growth Business of the Year for 2015 at the recent Hive awards. The judges commented, about Lance Mason that : “. [We] are driven, planned, structured and growth-focused with a clear strategy for investment in the future of the business and investment in the community.” We are extremely proud of our team - they are the most important factor in our success. We suspect we know the identity of the person who posted the review dated the 12th May 2015. If we are correct, it comes as no surprise to see the comments that that person has set out – both given their behaviour during the relatively short time they were with us, and the manner of their departure. We believe that the other reviews listed in Glassdoor truly reflect the type of employer that we are, and the experience that our current and future members can expect.” Mark Fallon, Chief Operating Officer - Lance Mason Solicitors
