Pros

Amazing food when there is leftovers, like absolutely to die for. 50% discount on any of the meals they offer including if you bring family and friends, as long as you are present 50% off. If you're not present family and friends can still get 25% off. Spa discount of 25%. 200 flat room fee for a stay. On your one year of working for Langdon Hall that give you a complimentary one night stay. Not many people can say they have worked and know the standard of Relais and Chateaux, you can get a job as a server almost anywhere after working at Langdon Hall.

Cons

Horrible management. I interviewed for a full-time 40 hours a week job, I got 15 hours a week. I had to nag and nag and nag multiple managers for more hours and all they said was "its based on business needs". Very unfair situations with staff as well as there was often favouritism throughout the work place. I turned down a 20 an hour guaranteed 40 hours a week for this job thinking that it would be a smart move as a student since I would be working 40 hours a week and getting insane tips and I can't even get 20 hours a week. The tip system is also ridiculous. As a server you get 1 point for every hour you work, and you're usually busting your butt, a supervisor (the ones I worked with anyways) did squat all and got 2 points for every hour, and back servers only get like 0.5 point. So say there's 400 dollars in tips and you (a server), another server and a supervisor work 5 hours. Supervisor who did nothing gets 200 since they have 10 points and you only get 100 since you get 5 points and the other server gets 100 since they also get 5 points. And the whole shift you and the other server were busting your balls trying to keep your head a float and didn't even get a 15 minute break because its so busy.

Pros

Beautiful property! Guests are usually very excited to stay. Fantastic food for guests. The owners Bill and Mary are absolutely wonderful!

Cons

Other than most management stays forever and there is little room to move up. Langdon Hall does not stand behind their staff. The management does not care for you or your career. Other department managers WILL throw you under the bus to save their own department from the wrath of the guests. Langdon will know exactly who I am and I'm sure you'll be reading this thinking "just another disgruntled employee who was let go" just read through. I was ecstatic to be working at Langdon Hall! It was the career path I wanted to be on and it was working out really well for me! Until I had an employee who was not happy with my decisions as a manager. This employee wrote a malicious email after he moved away due to a messy brake up, accusing me of sexual harrasment in the workplace. Which was simply not accurate. NO investigation was done. It was not brought to my attention until after more than 3 months had passed that HR had this email. Based on this one sided email I was fired immediately for just cause without severance pay. The means of my dismissal goes against several regulations outlined in the ontario labour laws. High scale with little class.
