Pros

Day-to-day is a very reasonable workload. Training is solid and departments work in conjunction quite well & effectively. Culture is decent.

Cons

After our director left, admissions were left with little to no support. The president of the org is constantly biting off more than she can chew & thought she could gain a proper understanding of sales/admissions and give us the support we need, all while overseeing day to day of the entire org. Founder doesn’t seem like she really does a ton or understands what is really going on. Randomly terminated for no given reason along with other very long tenured employees. Found out through the grapevine it was for budget purposes, which there was 0 transparency or communication about. This very clearly should have been a layoff w/ severance.

Everyone is great except the executives

Pros

Everyone who isn’t an executive is a lovely person who cares about students

Cons

The executive and leadership team is completely unethical and toxic. They consistently take the easy way, put money ahead of the needs of students and staff, and blatantly skirt or even break the law.

The Reality Behind the Facade

Pros

Thankfully, you work from home as this is the only pro I can think so.

Cons

The interview process may seem promising, but let's talk reality. Once you're onboarded, get ready for hours of training without pay until you've clocked 24 hours of teaching. Oh, and those mandatory meetings? They're "optional" but unpaid. Management might compare them to virtual drop-ins at a colleague's office, but unlike the office, you won't see a dime for your time. And speaking of time, your student meetings better stretch to 60 minutes each, which is a challenge when you're booked back-to-back. Plus, parents hold all the cards here, and not all students are top-tier. As for compensation, it's on the lower side, especially considering the minimal prep time pay and the disparity in teacher pay rates. Some are barely scraping $20/hour, sans benefits, as independent contractors. Ironically, you might earn more waiting tables without a degree. In short, appearances can be deceiving. Don't be fooled by the initial charm – this job might leave you questioning your decision.
