Positive culture, leadership will run it into the ground

Pros

the culture is more open, and collaborative than most. People are intelligent, thoughtful, professional, and learning oriented. Everything is flexible. People have a lot of autonomy. Having so little structure/management could be a good thing or bad depending on who you are and what your job is.

Cons

People don’t get the support they need to grow, fix performance issues, or…to do their job at all, some of the time. Leadership is dysfunctional. Especially the 2 owners. The CEO/majority owner has an astonishing inability to listen, empathize, or communicate. He resists the changes people have been asking for for years, then makes excuses about how it’s not his job to solve other people’s problems. He talks the talk about how it’s supposed to be a trusting, self-organizing workplace, but he doesn’t actually trust or respect employees, or let them do anything to improve the company if it wasn’t his idea. Some key people have quit due to years of frustration. They will probably keep leaving. Or else management will cut the workforce once their lack of business and leadership skills leads to a major loss in revenue. DEI at this company is a joke. There is no formal structure or accountability for DEI. There is no HR. Women are not treated equally, and who knows if pay is equal. We just get a bunch of unselfaware rich white guy explanations of how they’re already doing so much and trying so hard. Don’t believe it.

Pros

This is a fully remote job. There are no traditional managers. They will give you a computer. It is flexible work hours.

Cons

It should be sufficient for you to know that their COO, CTO, and DOO have all left within the past year, in addition to other high-ranking individuals. I have never seen a place so confusing. The organization is unstructured and unmanaged. It is not possible to make decisions. In spite of the fact that this appears to be an inclusive environment, there is no single person who makes decisions, and there is no one to whom you can ask questions and receive a direct response. I do not see mention here that it is a family-owned business. I is now run by three siblings and one of their wives. There is no knowledge of how to run a business on their part.
