Bad management and toxic work environment

Pros

There’s some truly genuine and talented people in the business, who are trying their hardest to make the business work. I thoroughly enjoyed the actual work when the workload and deadlines weren’t ridiculous.

Cons

Leeds-List has the capacity to be a great place to work but unfortunately the management completely let it down. The problems start from the top down. The way the CEO speaks to employees is really appalling and condescending, leaving people feeling constantly on edge. Employees are seen as commodities rather than human beings which has resulted in high staff turnover and low morale. They pride themselves on a ‘chaotic’ environment, when in fact they’ve created a toxic work culture - and they have a reputation for it. No efforts were made to ensure staff were happy and there was no flexible working when upper management could come and go as they please.

First of all, thanks for your feedback and for your comments about the talent of our wider team. As a business, we pride ourselves on offering employees a good work-life balance and believe that working over is the exception not the rule. There was a case recently where an employee struggled with the workload because their abilities were overstated at interview. We were transparent about expectations and the level of the role, both at interview and during the offer process. When an employee doesn’t meet their KPIs, they’re offered additional support, but sadly, it doesn’t always work out. The employee was given almost a month of paid garden leave which exceeded their contractual notice period by a significant amount.

Pros

Good central Leeds office location

Cons

CEO is irrational and erratic They have big plans to expand but the foundations are weak Could be a successful company if they managed to keep their staff longer than a month

Thanks for your feedback. We’re very clear with candidates about the requirements and expectations of the role during the hiring process. Unfortunately, sometimes even with enhanced support, training and other interventions, it doesn’t work out. That said, we have a great team in place, the majority of which have been with the business for 1+ years, and while we have ambitious growth plans, we pride ourselves on creating a positive working environment.

First of all, thanks for your feedback. Unfortunately, this isn’t a situation we recognise as happening within our business and would urge you to reach out if you have concerns, otherwise you may want to review that you’re referring to the right business. For the sake of others reading this review, it is company policy that an employee will be asked to leave when their employment is terminated if we’ve identified the need to protect the rest of the team. We’re really proud of our team and while creating great work is core to our business, work-life balance is one of our core values.
