Pros

- In all honesty, there are none.

Cons

- Commission only - owner and upper management get MORE than you do for what you sell. - 7 Days a week, irregular hours. Some days, 1 hour. Other days, 15 hours. Inconsistent and ZERO work/life balance. - They give you the work schedule on a SUNDAY NIGHT for the week ahead. Ridiculous. - They only recruit for 1 role - SALES. They have to recruit lots of people for their "Management Training Program" to keep scheme going. Most people quit, so that's why they are constantly hiring. - They place you in Canadian Tire and Costco selling items no-one needs, and you stay there til midnight counting stock afterwards. - No gas reimbursements, driving all over the city to different stores. - Very cliquey; management are very immature and unprofessional. - Everything is unprofessional; regional updates and meetings are held over Whatsapp! Please don't waste your time, I wish I didn't!

Don't do it

Pros

Interesting to learn the skills of direct marketing and how to manipulate people into buying

Cons

They call this direct marketing, but it is a sales job. Furthermore, it is minimum wage with no guaranteed hours even if you sign on for full-time. Yes, you can make commission above minimum wage but if you look at the breakdown of the commission scale you'll see that no matter how well you sell you probably won't make above minimum wage. This is because what they consider a marker for good sales is only a good marker for one person yet most every shift will be training with a leader or split with another person so your commission is divided up. You do start making money once you get to Costco sales vs. Canadian Tire and leaders do get solo days where they can genuinely make good commission at CT. The issue is getting to leadership. I was told my leader did it in a week and I aimed for the same. I put in the extra time, was doing well. My leader and my trainer were recommending me to do my solo days (a requirement to move up) and said it was coming asap, but ultimately people who had been waiting longer than me got to do it first plus newbies needing training days took some of the availability for shifts. I worked there for 2 months and made $500. They guilt you into doing tons of free work so you can move up faster and I'm sure it would've paid off eventually, but it wasn't worth the time and energy. The owner who does make money looks like she has a sad life, constantly on call, no days off per week, indoctrinated into this work hard play hard life that's waaaaay more work than play. I quit because I didn't want to be her and I certainly didn't want to spend a year getting there.

Actually a sales job

Pros

Probably would have good training and entry into basic customer service position training and experience...

Cons

Fancy titles e.g. 'event coordinator' are really a long and elaborate, far from the actual profession of salesperson. Suck graduates in.
