Pros
I formerly worked full-time with LexION and Elle Kaplan from 2015-2018 and then on and off since based on my availability (I moved, got married, had kids etc etc). As one of the original employees at LexION I find these negative reviews surprising. As an independently run finance firm, where you work directly with (and sometimes even next to) the CEO, of course it is going to sometimes be an intense and fast paced environment. It’s finance. With that said Elle Kaplan has always gone out of her way to teach and mentor her employees, including myself. If she gets personal, it's because she cares and wants to see you do well. I worked with a few bad eggs while I was there in person full-time who simply didn’t do their work. Yes, they were let go or quit on sour notes. Behave that way at any larger firm and see how you are treated.
Compensation is directly based on education and/or experience. As someone without a traditional or “fancy” education it was a privilege to start at entry level and work my way up. I feel like my current compensation is great.
On a side note, I used to do the hiring, I can also vouch for extreme inclusivity and diversity as we often interviewed and hired members of the LGBTG+ community etc. Part of my administrative duties were also spent organizing and/or preparing for various diverse women’s groups where Elle volunteered (non-paid) as a mentor and/or financial expert.
Cons
Can be overwhelming for some to be expected to continually learn if they are not prepared for that responsibility.
