Pros

The salary is good and the junior staff are supportive of each other

Cons

They don't invest in management training therefore effective management is absent. Management is suspicious and paranoid about staff unionising - any critical feedback is taken personally and results in members of management performing 'hurt feelings' instead of thinking about how to improve working conditions for its staff. There is no emphasis placed on personal or professional development with the fundraising team. My manager was so unaware of what my job entailed that they were unable to train or even oversee the training of new staff. I was left to train new staff after being reassured this would not happen.

Over worked and under capacity

Pros

The work this human rights organisation do is vital to clinging on to our civil liberties and holding policy makers and government institutions to account for poor decision making. Many of the staff are interesting and welcoming people.

Cons

The organisation has very low capacity and very high staff turnover. The induction and training for new staff is poor, even non existent in some cases. The job and working environment offered in the job advert and interview is sadly not the reality upon commencing employment. Staff are over worked, under appreciated and made powerless to change their work load/direction/environment as management are controlling and impenetrable!
