Pros

Opportunity to work with AI

Cons

CEO is all over the place and he can't stick with anything and has to constantly change everything. There is an absolute bro culture. Which seemingly stems from the CEO and his constant use of the word r***** (middle school language) There were constantly people saying "that's gay" and the head of engineering said he wouldn't go to a gay club because he would get "raped." You are constantly watched by the CEO in the office. If you leave around 5pm or 6pm he gets upset. Before I started working here I was truly excited and ready to devote a large number of hours to this company and its mission. However, after all of the above at the office, plus the company completely pivoting 2 weeks into my time there, I had to get out.

Hi! CEO here. * The comments you've heard are obviously completely unacceptable. I've had stern talks with the parties concerned, we've held an all hands, and I'm making sure it doesn't happen again. Regarding the rest of the feedback: * Re: the hours — we do work very hard, which we're open about during our interview process (it's also right here in our cultural values[1]: "We put extraordinary effort to build an extraordinary company"). I totally understand not everyone is up for the personal sacrifice, but I'm afraid that's what it takes for startups to succeed. * Re: the "pivot" — we made one such big change last year, and it's been a huge boon for the business. This too, I'm afraid, is the startup game — if you want something stable, startups may not be for you. [1]: https://www.notion.so/lindyai/Lindy-s-Culture-8f24be7f619a4e4aa7e93ba02d58cf4c?pvs=4

Pros

1) The stuff we build could not be more exciting. I can’t think of anything else I’d rather be working on. 2) The engineering culture is first class. This includes engineers, engineering managers, stack, processes, etc. 3) Leadership is active, aware and adaptable. This is crucial for a startup, given the stiff competition within the rapidly evolving AI field. 4) Teamwork makes the dream work. There’s no scheming, backstabbing, competing, blaming or sabotaging. 5) Talent is appreciated and rewarded. This includes promotions and staffing engineers on projects they’re interested in and excel at. 6) Everyone is friendly and kind.

Cons

1) Work-life balance. While I can’t imagine WLB being any better at other AI startup, we do work a lot. But there’s a sense of ownership and impact which counterbalances that. No one is getting fired for not completing tickets. 2) Overall, very “in person”, but definitely okay to WFH here and there, as needed.
