Appalling training – different departments leave it to each other to do the training then all assume you know everything.
Very little induction structure, it was very all over the place.
I would be willing to forgive this (with them being such a small business) if it was not for the Manager deciding to tactically trip me up just hours before a meeting they had set to fire me on performance grounds.
Clearly she was having second thoughts (as I had only been there for about 6 weeks) that it was a hasty decision. But, she asked me if I had tested some software (Which she knew I didn’t know how to test properly) I said ‘yes’ which I had done. (incorrectly of course because of the appalling training).
She conveniently took this as an opportunity to throw ‘Conduct issues’ due to dishonesty into the dismissal.
I couldn’t defend myself in the meeting at the time because I had no notice of the allegations and due to my anxiety from being told I was getting fired…
They went on to tell me they will not be recommending me in a reference! Worst experience of my professional life!
Happy ending for me though (having an excellent CV from prior achievements) I got another job very quickly which had adequate training and a common sense management. Mysteriously I reverted back to the achiever I was before Linetime... and was even promoted within 5 months!…
