I worked at Lion full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Not too many now, general feeling around Lion is that's it's in decline.
    Gym Facilities, Modern Office

    Cons

Lifeless environment, a lot of energy zapped out of people during a period of change. Loss of some extremely knowledgeable employees and values that once were instilled and created a sense of belonging are unfortunately no more

    Advice to Management

Talk and listen to your people. Open up valued open two way communication not just dictating downwards. Reassess your values and actually have pride in acting them out.

I worked at Lion full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Work/Life balance, brands/product, people & teams outside of head office in Sydney Olympic Park.

    Cons

IT Leadership, just ticking boxes now, little to no regard for the people in regional teams. Huge degree outsourcing in effect ruining many years of internal engagement and great culture. A negative culture has now been instilled because of this, despite Lion always saying they have a great. Lots of rebuilding to do.

    Advice to Management

Avoid the outsourcing, ruined many, many years of excellent internal culture that drove passion and dedication to an achievement based culture, going against your own values ..

    I worked at Lion full-time

    Pros

Focus on career development. They will let you try a role outside your area of expertise if you've demonstrated agility. Cash flow rich business who are prepared to invest for the long term if there's a case for it.

    Cons

Outsourcing is in full swing. This isn't helping overall engagement, or making things easy for those who must interact with those departments. Culture and HR is still spoken about but has large components of lip service now. Long term direction is a question mark - subsidiaries have been bought, then sold to 'focus on the core' and now they are entering the ground coffee market and starting the cycle again!

I worked at Lion full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Quality products, interesting fringe benefits, decent pay

    Cons

Long hours for salary staff, poor work life balance if you are site/operations based as you cannot benefit from the flexible policies. Very bureaucratic.

    Advice to Management

The “Act fast for the long term “ value is an oxymoron as everything takes a long time at Lion. Applications for promotion/transfers are very slow. Products are market lagging rather than market leading.
