Pros

- Good coffee, interesting international colleagues, even some baroque bug writers.

Cons

- The most relevant and accurate review regarding Locteam was written on 20th July 2018 and it highlights the same critique that I have. Since I don’t want to duplicate that information I will mainly write about Locteam from a legal point of view. - Locteam has on several occasion operated illegally. My first encounter with this unculture were when the employees were told to not use the work chat to openly discuss company policies regarding a negotiation about the use of holidays. Hindering employees to discuss issues that affect them all and/or for them to organise a response to the management, should be considered as a violation of Spanish labour laws. - Locteam has been operating as a staff recruitment company (such as Manpower) for several years for the Apple office in Madrid, without reflecting this in the employees contracts. Due to this, several employees that have been fired have threatened to take them to court, and after this receives large pay-outs and good recommendation letters to keep silent. - The management has on several occasions proven that they are retroactive rather than proactive in health and legal work environment issues. First example of this is when the management were given several complaints about one employee due to this persons male chauvinistic alt-right comments. No action was taken. Action was only taken when the 95% of the women in the office stood up and demanded it. This resulted in the person being fired and a 8 page anti-bullying contract. However, the contract was so poorly written that it would be in conflict with our actual work instructions at times. - The old manager was later fired due to the above mentioned incident amongst other things. Four employees took over the management and there were hopes that the working environment would improve, but rather the opposite occurred. Whilst demanding efficiency and professionalism, they would fire people for personal reasons and treat people differently based on their personal liking and not based on work efforts. When some employees have made formal complaints about this type of preferential treatment, those complaint haven't been dealt with in neither a professional nor legal correct manner. The rule seem to be, if you complain, you will receive complaints of your work effort from the management - or get fired. - Further, testers have received electroshocks and rather than caring for their employees healths and well-being, Locteam has authored new long confidential agreements that will disabled any employee to seek legal advise regarding any work environment issues.

A sinking ship

Pros

- The client is one of the biggest technology companies in the world - Modern and comfortable workspace - Central location in the heart of Madrid - Good salary

Cons

- The management team was chosen for their ability to take orders from above without asking questions as opposed to experience and leadership ability - No desire (or knowledge how) to improve processes. People who want to do that are seen as "trouble makers". - No attempt to retain staff - Obsessed with procedure rather than results - Micromanagement of employees, at times it feels like a school - High turnover of staff - The work itself is boring and repetitive - No direction or vision from the management team - Demotivated colleagues, everyone just does the minimum - Zero praise when you do well but they jump on you the second you "step out of line" - HR issues diverted to a separate entity in Barcelona who have no clue what goes on day to day in the Madrid office - No career or development prospects, they just wait for your contract to run out then replace you

Pros

- Money is OK (but could be better). - Office opens and closes on time. - Central location (if you care about this).

Cons

- No clear work instructions/productivity targets so the managers can change the work "expectations" whenever/however they like, which mainly results in punishing or complaining about the worker after the work has been completed. Vague and contradictory work instructions confuse and frustrate workers, and make workers fearful/unsure about their job security. - There is no work or performance appraisal (unless it's a complaint/punishment after the work has been completed) and there don't seem to be any formal management-to-employee processes at all. - The management-to-employee communication is either almost non-existent, very ineffective or inconsistent/unreliable to the point of being almost useless (often workers find out things from other workers who spoke informally to the management) which could be inaccurate or outdated by the time the information is received. - A negative, not encouraging and not a motivating work environment - just punishments or complaints and that make people feel confused, depressed and fearful for their jobs (management also uses fear to control the workers more easily). A good proportion of the people stopped caring very much about their work and/or lost their motivation as a result. - There are some sadistic and dishonest/deceitful managers in the company who are happy to see you suffer and will punish you, unfairly blame you or try to restrict or pressurise you however they can just to "get back at you" for any little thing you do or say which they don't like, for example if you complain about something and they don't like it, or even if you try to help the managers by giving honest feedback which serves the interests of both the company and the workers, you are then discriminated against. - These managers will try to intimidate/control you through fear or to feed their own power hunger and need for domination/control (basically dominate and bully you) or in some cases, they will just say they won't help you at all. Every day that passes there is a more dictatorial "get into line and shut up" attitude and treatment from the management. - Some of the managers assume or think that the workers are stupid and lazy and some of the time workers are treated with contempt by the managers. Some of the managers have even insulted the workers directly to their faces and do not even care or apologise afterwards - very disrespectful treatment from the managers! - The company/management culture of firing without remorse and very quickly is almost certainly illegal (it certainly appears that way). Sometimes the company fires the "weaker" workers who are less likely to sue or don't have a strong ability/possibility to defend themselves (some workers still sue though). - This kind of contagious management culture starts from the top management and filters down to the lower managers and then the workers get the end result which is not pleasant at all. Even the lower managers appear depressed, overworked, stressed, fearful and sad a lot of the time. - Now there is a toxic workplace where a lot of people are depressed, they don't care like they used to, there is almost no fun, there are zero rewards or encouragement (only punishments) and some of the mangers will try to dominate, punish or harass you whenever they can, even if you ask for achieving basic humanistic rights or you have some critical but important feedback to give. - The work/management culture now is only about black and white numbers, laws and rules (which will be used to the company's advantage) and not at all about treating the workers with respect, like humans, or using aspects of humanistic, caring treatment. Every day this seems to get worse and worse as the toxicity spreads. - It feels like the company does not protect or care about its employees, does not invest or develop their employees and the more that all the above-mentioned issues continue, the more problems are created. In general all these issues create an unsustainable, fearful, unfair and unethical work environment which gets more depressing, negative and toxic with every day that passes.
