      Pros

      I loved working at Longsands and, initially, under Astrea, things were ok.

      Cons

      Then the new CEO took over, appointed a new Director of Secondary education and they set about centralising everything, removing autonomy and making no effort to bring key stakeholders - teachers, parents and students - onboard. As a result, Longsands' brand has been completely destroyed and it will take years for anyone to bring it back to where it used to be.

      Pros

      Great staff. Strong levels of support. Supportive of staff development. Keen to hear staff views. Regular staff development reviews and opportunities to learn new skills.

      Cons

      Work life balance as a teacher is highly unbalanced but not unique to this school, all schools. Some staff are not managed effectively.
