Pros

The pay is good and some good workers to banter with.

Cons

Politics within the company. A lot has changed since the new takeover of owners. All the decent foreman left and noe its a shell of its former self. Lost prevailing wages mixed with new hires. I would recommend Lighthouse (same type of work). This place is going to be sold in a few years time anyways.

Pros

Great stepping stone job, can get hired with very little experience and can take advantage of job-related training / certification reimbursement to quickly advance your knowledge for better paying roles elsewhere. Company vehicle, They provide tools, Ability to work solo majority of the time, Ability to learn and practice Electrical, Electronics, Construction, and IT related skills.

Cons

Management is not skilled; they focus too much on growth and try to emulate big business practices without having big business capabilities/understanding of how to reach that point, Increasing micromanagement from new management team, Management does not understand the value of their employees, Management does not incentivize training or certifications, Management will frequently lie to employees to convince them to work harder for promotions/raises that will never materialize, Management will threaten to fire an entire office to avoid potential lawsuits from unsubstantiated claims from unqualified personnel that they decided would be a great idea to hire, knowing these hires will cause unnecessary friction to a previously well-established and exemplary team. No well-defined, legitimate promotion/raise path. Promotion paths are arbitrary and hard work is not rewarded; promotions seem to be awarded based on DEI policies and internal office politics instead of merit or seniority. No adequate raises - current raises do not even cover nominal inflation, even after including "Merit" increases - typically expect to see anywhere from quarter to half dollar raise per year even after exceeding all goals. No bonuses. Management frequently lies about potential bonuses available and always find a way to not pay them to employees. On-call rotation is not worth it and heavily affects your work-life balance. The company is now owned by an investment firm so I predict the problems will only get worse - they will most likely try to increase the valuation of the company through nominal growth at all costs so that they can eventually sell the company for a large profit. Advice for the employee: Learn and practice as many different skills as you can, grab any certifications you can find, and leave for a better job after 2-3 years, since you will be losing money/opportunity after that point due to anemic raises / lack of promotions / pidgeonholing. Do not blindly trust management as they are expertly skilled at stringing people along.
