Pros
The core group of employees are young motivated engineers straight out of college. Everyone is smart, and wants to see the mission move forward successfully. It is a tight group as many people were friends in college before but is super inclusive to new hires.
Cons
The management has absolutely no clue how to communicate both internally and externally. "Motivational speeches" often include language suggesting that there is no possibility of advancement within the company without working 80+ hours a week. The CEO consistently thinks the projects are way ahead of where they actually are and reports as such to external entities, adding additional pressure to the engineering teams. All of the managers tend to micro-manage and refuse to allow important functions move forward or retain influence within the company and slows down everything. The entire mindset of the company is essentially grow as much as possible without any clear strategy presented and hopefully something works out. There were times where I questioned the ethics behind a decision management made.
