An Absolute Mess

Pros

Shoe discount? Maybe? If the shoes were at all comfortable and attractive?

Cons

poor hiring practices, complete and total alienation of retail team (think Caste system - BAD), highly disorganized, condescending management, inability to do your job well because there are so many hoops to jump through despite being a "small" team, crappy product, horrific systems

Toxic Workplace, Disingenuous Leadership.

Pros

They hire really smart, nice, capable, hardworking people and there is a surprising amount of work/life balance. Pay is ok.

Cons

Leadership is completely dishonest about everything. They preach transparency and "family" but have no sense of loyalty or accountability to anyone who works there. They talk the talk but are incapable (or uninterested) in walking the walk. There is no real strategy behind business decisions; everything is reactionary, impulsive and hair-on-fire, all day, every day. Leadership is not aligned on company vision/growth, so it's impossible to get anything substantive done because no one at the top can agree on anything, whether it's a consistent brand messaging, what the shoe designs should look like, how the website should function, how to approach retail rollouts, or who the customer is. In short, it's a disorganized mess and any sane person would be well advised to stay far, far away. As mentioned in the "Pros" section, they do hire really great people but then don't let them do their jobs. Lots of bait-and-switch hiring practices on all levels of the company (e.g., they tell you you'll have the freedom to do xyz if hired but that never happens so everyone is highly frustrated all the time). As someone else mentioned, you'll leave with several close friends, having survived in the trenches. And you'll get a crash course in how not to run a business or be a leader, as they all fall way short of the mark. In the time I was there, I saw 17 people come and go (out of a 60-person staff) and I'm told the rate of turnover was equally high the year before. Very disappointing all around.

Bad culture, with facade of inclusion

Pros

Pay. Benefits. Free snacks. Fairly flexible with schedule. You will probably learn alot about yourself, the job, and what you don't want to be as a leader.

Cons

Vindictive management. Lying from the highest levels, and seemingly promoting only the teacher's pets (those who suck up and do whatever is asked, working all hours of the day and night and weekend, never saying "no"). Turn-over was pretty high while I was there. Must have been at least 12 people or more in the year I left, out of no more than 50. They requested employee feedback but always made pitiful excuses for the negative feedback, if they addressed it at all. It usually took months to get back the feedback because it was predominantly negative (according to other employees private admissions). I feel bad, because there are a lot of nice folks there but the culture starts with leaders and since they aren't going anywhere, it's near impossible to change.
