CEO was unorganized, manipulative, and unprofessional at times. He wanted me to work weekends without getting reimbursed. Lack of communication and wanted you to work a lot outside of your position without the extra pay.

-Super unprofessional -They will ask you to come in for an interview right after you apply. You will be offered the position on the spot for a 1-2 month "trial period" and asked to come in the next day or upcoming Monday. They will pay you next to nothing during the "trial period," but promise you'll make more if you're hired full time. They say this to everyone. It's not true. Two weeks into my 1-2 month trial period, I was asked to sign an extremely problematic contract for the same pay I was already receiving, and they refused to negotiate in any way. Others had it worse. One person worked 3 days before they were let go (out of the blue) because they "didn't have the necessary experience and skill set." Ok, but if that was the case, why were they hired on the spot and asked to come in immediately? -Beyond the pay, the contract I was asked to sign was problematic because it labelled me as an "independent contractor." But I wasn't one. I was an employee as defined by New York State labor law (intentional misclassification of workers is against the law). They do this to avoid paying into benefit programs like health and unemployment insurance. -Complete lack of upper management, structure, or organization. New hires come and go constantly. No one knows who's responsible for what. There is absolutely no top down leadership. The only long-term employees are the president and his #2, who is based in Italy. But you won't really report to either, and their communication with each other is as bad as with the rest of the staff.
