Pros

- The employees at MICHI were great. - Great location in the heart of Liberty Village.

Cons

- Founder does not trust anyone in the company hence tries to make every decision which becomes a bottleneck for the business - Working hours are 8am - 5pm with almost everyone eating at their desks. - Everything in the business is late (product deliverables, launches, employee reviews etc)....even meetings.

Pros

location is convenient, friendly coworkers quickly became close friends, one of the few fashion companies based in Toronto.

Cons

The owner, Michelle Watson is a horrible boss, has no people skills or empathy. the company is poorly tun and salaries are abysmal and not competitive. there is no upper management and zero training across the board. she hires young girls she can manipulate and control. company stated values are no aligned with reality - there is no female empowerment happening.

Pros

Opportunity to lead big projects and gain a ton of experience in what would normally be upper-management led initiatives. If there's something that you want to do you can definitely do it Low budgets allow you to get creative with execution???? Forces you to think outside of the box which I guess is a silver lining after the 50th time Convenient location and nice office (not applicable now anyways) Employee discount thats decent...ish

Cons

The reason you're leading big projects are because there is no management nor matching pay for that matter. Founder does not represent the brand philosophy of female empowerment as employees are not paid equitably and the excuse of being a "small business" is often used. MICHI has great brand visibility and a strong product so employees feel compelled to care while also having a "competitive" job in the fashion industry. But in terms of structure and culture MICHI is very much stuck in the past with how the business is run and thinking that the fashion industry standard of paying employees for working long high stress hours is still ok. Prepare to have a lot of edits and micro-managing and no direction from other "leaders" on the team because they haven't been trained nor supported in their own development. Also do not expect to have transparent, constructive, and some times hard face-to-face conversations. Founder is awkward in preferring to be more direct about important things (pay, vacation, direction change, etc.) via email. Essentially there's no HR to mitigate/implement a more positive working culture. ** comment on "recommend to a friend" Depends on the friend. If you know your threshold or would like to develop it, this opportunity [superficially] looks good on paper...
