Pros

Little micromanaging by direct managers (but senior execs do have their hand in the day-to-day, maybe a bit too much) and good work/life balance.

Cons

Modco leadership will sell you on their small agency culture and happy hour perks, but they do not have a solid foundation at all. In my time here several clients and business partners (including their creative team) went under/bankrupt which always made me question the future of the agency and their business partnerships. Lack of leadership coupled with questionable department heads drives younger, loyal talent out, myself included. I could not imagine staying at Modco longer than I did (1 year) as I felt I was losing out on good experience. Modco resources are limited and there is no training or savvy tools.

Thank you for your opinion however Modco has been in business for close to 27 years with a proven track record of long term clients, staff and partnerships. Although it did not work out with you employed at Modco we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

The junior and midlevel talent is solid. MODCo is able to recruit talented individuals. Good salary. Typical work day lasts 9:30 - 6pm so good work/life balance. President doesn't show up until between 11am - 3pm so there is no pressure to arrive early.

Cons

Talent rarely lasts more than a year as they are driven out by the extremely poor leadership by President Ellie Bamford and CEO / COO Erik Dochtermann. Other leaders have tried to right the ship (Director of Accounts), but the President and CEO have a 'my way or highway' approach and squash any new thinking that doesn't fulfill their personal agenda. The executives create anxiety, panic and micromanage without having the skill set or business acumen to create a good product, support talent, or build a healthy work environment. The result is an extremely disgruntled and unmotivating work place where every single person here is actively looking for their way out. The President acts like an Account Executive who wants to do all the talking, get compliments and blame her agency for anything that goes wrong. A narcissist who's priority is feeling popular with clients and team members who lies, shows up at 3pm and fires people who slights or outshines her. The CEO/COO jumps into the day to day with no clue about the business, making everyone's job harder. This company is his hobby, certainly not his expertise.
