Pros

I’ve worked at Magna Search Group for several years. As a company overseen by excellent management and having a team of high achievers it is genuinely the best place I’ve worked. We have a highly experienced, innovative CEO who leads from the front, oversees and advises on all ongoing projects, and is always creating teaching moments while continuously demonstrating subject matter expertise to incorporate into our daily workflows. The team itself is tight knit, works closely together and the company is always making forward strides with positive changes and evolving processes. Each individual is sharp, innovative, and a contributor, and I’m ecstatic whenever any of them joins me on a new project. No one works in a silo here because support is just a colleague away. Outside of that, it’s a place where you can really learn and essentially get an MBA in recruitment and project management because the CEO really knows what he’s doing - he’s achieved monstrous success in this space and it both inspires and informs the Magna team. Magna is a feedback-driven company. This means it’s a place where one needs to be comfortable taking constructive feedback, as well as being comfortable working quickly and being on top of your workload. But this is really nothing short of a given and is the main reason that truly sets us apart from other agencies. Yes, there will be some days when you need to begin work early and some days when you need to work late … but we’re all about servicing the client and getting the work done, and quite honestly this is part of any successful search firm. The truth is we are working with some of the most exciting, innovative and rapidly growing partners in their respective industries. Magna is not only a company with a LOT of legacy accounts and unreal net new clients, it enjoys a phenomenal reputation amongst them. Want proof? - they pick up their phones/respond whenever we reach out to them, it’s truly amazing to see this reputation in action. Companies want to work with us. Straight up, people who are committed to learning and who are willing to put in the work are making significant incomes. They do well. For those folks who are not making money this is simply because they are not making any placements. The company pays top-of-the-range salaries and commissions in addition to its outstanding bedrock of team support, teachings and airtight processes. I’m making a lot of money and have grown into a leadership role myself. And an exciting facet is that each and every week we’re all seeing these demonstrated successes.

Cons

It would be great if we did more team get-togethers. More in-office work sessions as this could add significant value to the new recruiters as much as the more seasoned ones.

Beware of the Promises

Pros

The promises of support, potential salary and training are enticing, but the reality falls short. If the positive reviews were accurate reflections of the workplace, many of us would still be employed there [if not fired or pushed out before probation period].

Cons

Training: Despite promises of comprehensive training, new hires are often left to manage tasks with minimal guidance and face criticism for any mistakes. Micromanagement: The top executives excessively monitor employees, frequently reviewing emails and questioning activities every 30 minutes to an hour. They assign additional projects without regard to existing workloads and criticize work output, often attributing unsuccessful outcomes to poor leads rather than providing constructive feedback. Job Security: Many employees are terminated during the probation period, creating an atmosphere of constant anxiety among the remaining staff. If leads are not closed or the market is slow, management readily places blame on employees and makes them vulnerable to termination. Work/Life Balance: Employees are expected to remain at their desks from 8 AM to 5 PM without adequate breaks and are often required to work overtime with little notice. Despite working over 10 hours daily, there is a pervasive lack of trust in employee performance and time management. Compensation: The promised earning potential is highly unrealistic. Many employees find it extremely difficult to achieve the projected earnings, making the job not worth the stressful and demanding work environment fostered by upper management.

Pros

Absolutely nothing is a pro

Cons

Magna was the worst job I have ever had. Zero training, no respect for your personal time or life, extreme micro managing. All of the positive reviews you see here are from the same two employees that are currently employed there, I wish I listened to the negative ones because those are the truth. No one makes money and the amount of deals that are closed compared to how many cold call style emails you do is insane. I have no idea how anyone could be successful long term. The amount of turnover you see is soooooo concerning. As someone with an HR background, there are so many red flags
