Disappointment for Oskaloosa Community

Recommend

Business outlook

Pros

Competitive benefits. A lot of caring, compassionate people who just want to take care of the community. Longevity despite challenges. (Side note, Chris Jepsen is no longer CEO - just a note, not indicating as pro or con.)

Cons

Executive level management has slowly disassembled core elements that have made MHP what it was. Focus on services that are not suitable for a small rural community. Losing focus on the core needs of the people such as strong family practice physicians and services to support such as obstetrics. Trust is placed in dishonest leaders who have selfish motives. Board of Trustees are viewing the future through the filter of false information. Poor financial handling and dishonest communication.

Echoing disconnect...

Pros

Healthcare Providers are great people and truly care about patients. The new patient wing is lovely. Salaries are fair.

Cons

I will echo a previous reviewer and state that yes, there is indeed a disconnect between Leadership and the "front lines." On the surface, the organization seems healthy, but after a time, the dysfunctions become evident.

Making Healthcare Personal... ??

Business outlook

Pros

Employment benefits and involvement within the community are definitely high points; recruitment of top-notch providers and the growth of programs over the past several years are assets to employees and the community as a whole.

Cons

There has been a distinct disconnect between management and the "front lines" for several years; interdepartmental collaboration is on the decline as there continues to be increased emphasis placed on revenue and speed that directly contradicts the motto / promise of individualized (e.g. personalized) services delivery.
