Pros

-fully remote work environment -100% benefits coverage

Cons

-long interview process and almost no time for onboarding -CEO comes off as nice but is rude and has no patience -no feedback given or formal review process from leadership -job advertised was not what it appeared to be nor was it completely defined -company works in a few different time zones - no quick reponse time -not allowed to ask questions or get clarity and expected to know everything about the job/company/processes before even starting -way too many programs to learn/use with no training for any -one of their values is 'make and own your mistakes' but if you do you'll get in trouble anyway?

We’re glad you appreciated the fully remote setup and our commitment to 100% benefits coverage. We hear your concerns, especially around onboarding, clarity of role expectations, and communication. We’ve grown a lot over the past several years and have made significant improvements on our training resources, performance review process, and ensure new hires get the support they need from day one.

Pros

The best part about working at Makeship is the team itself. The company is filled with many great people who are talented and creative, and they make the work environment very enjoyable.

Cons

Despite having many strong team members, Makeship struggles with leadership, company direction, and job security. Management lacks a clear vision, and a noticeable disconnect between upper leadership and daily operations has created uncertainty about the company's future. A major concern is how the company handles dismissals and employee retention. In one troubling instance, six employees, including key early team members, were suddenly let go right before Christmas without warning or cause. Several other similar and unexpected dismissals of well-respected employees have further contributed to instability and eroded trust in leadership. This uncertainty, combined with ongoing disagreements among upper management, has also led many key employees to leave the company voluntarily, further impacting team morale and continuity.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re happy to hear that you had a positive experience with the team. We agree that our people are one of Makeship’s greatest strengths, and we’re proud of the creativity and collaboration they bring every day. I want to acknowledge the impact of the layoffs that happened in late 2023. It was an extremely difficult decision, however necessary for the long-term health of the company. We know that sudden changes, especially those that affect people directly, can be unsettling and frustrating. We’re continuing to work on being more transparent about where we’re headed as a company and how everyone’s day-to-day work connects to the bigger picture. We're committed to staying focused on building a company our team can trust and be proud of.
