Pros

Young, creative, dynamic work environment. The company has LEED earning incentives and frequent CE classes and luncheons for free. Company has typical social functions year round. Great ambience to grow in your career socially and design knowlegde.

Cons

Competitive, extranueous, and stressful environment to work for designers, project managers, and principals. Raises and bonus are not easily obtained and lack of career advancement. Basically if you are hired as a drafter, project manager, etc and you work for the company for years any higher position openings are not offered or given to current employees. They prefer to hire outsiders to promote for company. Big down side is the company is run by CFO who is an accountant. Design/architecture firm should not be run by numbers' person, bad business model.

A big small tech firm

Pros

Very flexible, free, hybrid work schedule. Lots of young people. Great marketing. lots of small projects, focusing on interior design. Long history, has a solid name in the industry. Some studios has free lunch occasionally. Good technology supporting the design presentation, like VR experience, 3D printing. Free beer.

Cons

Weak architectural project management, the PMs are too busy to check what the staff are doing, and the upper management are all business person, so no one is designing because most of work is just for record of architect. High turnover rate, people come and people go. Promotions went to those survived. 150% Profit-driven company, all business are doing so, but they treat new employees like disposable asset. for a short term I would recommend young designers/interns to learn things here, but for long term career, some second thoughts are needed. Overtime working is needed for some post-covid crazy deadlines, and no one gets appreciations. Focusing on many small projects, although the firm is getting back to 90 people, it still feel like a small firm, like one person be in charge of one job. Almost no teamwork at all. Used to be a 100years old firm, but a decade ago, the elder generations retired. Today's MD is a very young firm. Young people make mistakes and ack of experience in solving difficult problems, but no one is doublechecking drawings. Not an Adobe firm.
