Pros

10/10 location. Paid on time and at the correct rates. Always jobs going because of the high turnover. If you are a fan of leftovers you will love staff meals. Snows in Winter and warm in summer. Never ending supply of unhappy customers to work on your customer relation skills.

Cons

Shareholders are promised a 8% yearly return and management will do anything to meet that requirement regardless of impact on guests and staff. Small old and shared dormitory style staff accommodation that will cost as much as a small rental house, bathrooms that service ten people. Old property that needs maintenance in nearly every area however no money will be spent to fix them so the property is now made up of quick low cost patch jobs. It starts getting hard to act surprised when guests report maintenance issues. Staff are merely numbers as well as the guests and plenty of peppy slogans to hide this reality. HR is there to enforce the owners agenda and wants nothing to do with dealing with staff issues. Managers do 12 hour days regularly and are expected to provide 5 star service on a shoe string budget. Gossip and drinking are staff pass times. The list goes on.

Pros

The employees.Lots of young team members with great dreams and fantastic energy, A great diverse selection of properties placed in some great locations. A good place to start in the Hospitality industry due to the variety of jobs available across the hotel group.

Cons

Among the lowest end of salaries and wages offered in the Hospitality industry. There seem to be a culture of abuse where much is promised to staff but it is never delivered, and this seems to be repeated across most properties in Australia. It is not unusual for staff to be expected to work several shifts for no extra pay, often back to back due to skeleton staff placed across all departments. Staff turnover is excessively high and individual burnout is a sad but far too common outcome across most properties within this group

Pros

Accomodation discount, leftover food, consistent hours and shifts (due to high turnover and staff burnout). Develop friendships with regular guests, team bonding events.

Cons

Abusive staff, bullying culture, a managerial team that is not supportive and takes no action when issues are raised. Consistent abuse from rightfully unhappy guests with no action from management leaving reception to deal. Expected to work long hours, finishing at 12am and starting at 7am the next morning is not uncommon. Orientation and training procedures are a sink or swim mentality. Multiple new staff members brought to tears after their first few shifts due to the high stress/pressure with no support.
