Pros
The family members/owners are good people and have great ideas for the direction of the company. If they would realize that the people they have entrusted with make those ideas a reality do not have the same vision, it would be a great company to work for.
Cons
Hard work is completely unnoticed if you don't follow the leader blindly. Management does not have any training for supervisory skills and many have been promoted due to nepotism and friendship rather than competence, talent or hard word. As a result, in most departments there are many hard workers that are doing the work and putting in the long hours without recognition and many managers/supervisors/directors that do not have the skills necessary for their positions. Management has a culture of finger pointing and spends a lot of time trying to find someone to blame and get into trouble that would be better spent on figuring out ways to improve processes. Everyone is too afraid take responsibility for their own mistakes or oversights.
