A franchise is only as good as the owner.

Pros

Originally, the talk is all 'opportunity' and you really feel part of 'a new build'.

Cons

A lot of pressure to carry the owner with very little reward. Very often, the owner has no experience in the business or man management.

Pros

As a franchise, the company feels very small and there is no great hierarchy to overcome. My office was very friendly and though technically only the receptionist/office manager I was invited to sales meetings and asked to give presentations based on data from our property portals.

Cons

Lettings can be difficult if you have problem landlords or tenants. Our office had a great reputation for being a decent lettings agent but the level of trust in the lettings industry as a whole can be quite low.
