Pros

They have some of the best professional development policies in the industry (stipends for CEUs, paid time off for conferences )

Cons

Everything else is terrible. While the mission and value of the organization may seem great, they do nothing do uphold the mission on the inside. 99% of the therapists I worked with were white women who would constant say very microagressive and borderline racist things to and about their POC colleagues and clients. When those workers are being called out on their behaviors, the workers get very defensive and start to target you. Not to mention, the 'cultural competency' trainings are a joke. Given that 70% of the clients are hispanic/latinx, I would assume things would be done better. Everyone in leadership is white minus a few tokens and the leadership is EXTREMELY DISORGANIZED and things are falling through the cracks and it shows. Direct supervisors are slightly better but tend to use very authoritarian tactics to keep their supervisees in line. As a social worker, working with mostly other social workers, I start to see why social workers get such a bad rep in the agency field.

Pros

Community and sense purpose. Many people are excellent good folks with bleeding hearts for this cause. It’s a good think as you need lots of passion to propel you through this work environment.

Cons

Working for a years to progress very little despite excellent performance reviews. If you’re stuck under a supervisor with poor management or people skills there is little to no support. Several times my anonymity was mishandled and shared by HR when it should not have. Management level and above often treated “the rest of us” as a mass blob undeserving of influence. Called entitled for wanting basic accommodations. Would not recommend working here long term. Super high turnover rate. Experienced bias from others based on my age and gender. You will give until you have nothing left to give here and still not May not receive compassion or a raise in return.

Pros

Five weeks of PTO (But don't let it fool you... It is almost impossible to schedule time off because you will always be super busy)

Cons

Unclear job expectations, disorganized and minimal structure, minimal guidance, coaching, and appreciation from supervisor, high turnover rate for younger staff while many veteran staff are slightly incompetent
