Pros
The saving-grace two stars are for a number of wonderful, collaborative and brilliant individuals and managers who work here. Some dental/medicine benefits, good office location. No one is expected to stay late (though we did). There is flexibility and a degree of good work/life balance.
Cons
The organization has gone from caring and special to corporate and conformist. Neither length of service nor hard work makes a difference. Anyone who is not a manager or whose face doesn’t fit can expect 1) To get the last drop of effort and mental health squeezed out of them; 2) Not to have their opinions count where it matters. Expect to fill in long, complex paperwork for the annual performance review. HR is there to protect management. A blind eye is turned to ‘high performing’ bullying managers, who throw their loyal reports in the path of a two-ton truck and still get promoted. Playing the game is rewarded. Some teams are constantly high paced and high stressed beyond reason and logic. They are yanked this way and that by leaders who don’t stick to goals or understand the concept of leveraging ebb and flow. Other parts of the organization are oblivious to this problem, unable to understand or accept it. My department flagged issues and were repeatedly ignored. Take the good reviews with a delicate pinch of salt and beware. Take a good pair of headphones too, as the office is noisy.
