Pros

The only pro is that this place was part of the Publicis Healthcare Communications Group which may in some part have helped on a resumé. But that organization is askew itself so I doubt any actual name recognition other than in the pharma advertising industry as a whole would be of help.

Cons

Horrible senior mangement. Did not share pertinent information in a timely manner. Flat out lied and/or served to obscure the day-to-day operations of the company by engaging in sheer political tomfoolery and petty squabbles. And when not doing so allowed it to become the rule of law for mid-level management as well. Did not attract or promote talent actively and frequently sought to undermine the good work of those already contributing to the bottom line by encouraging a backbiting and politically charged atmosphere which encouraged fellow employees to turn on each other for the sake of obtaining favor in the eyes of senior management for however brief a time it might take to accomplish some obtuse or unmeasurable goal that had absolutely no ROI. Run for clowns, by clowns and while it definitely was a circus there was zero humor to be found in the place. If looking for work here, turn around and go the other way as it's sure to disappoint.

Used to be a nice place to work

Pros

The reason I stayed at Maxcess for so long was because of the work from home and hour flexibility. Eventually though I was working 60 - 80 hour weeks to make up for the huge gaps in knowledge and certain departments not wanting to carry a full work load

Cons

There are a lot of issues with Maxcess. To start, the company struggles to bring in new business and they've fired anyone who can bring in new business. Second, there is no real senior management in place. There used to be a great senior management team that protected you any managing director issues but they were all either fired (when the managing director needed a scape goat) or left of their own will. The managing director is a con all on their own, they have no clue about what is happening with their employees, they favor certain people who don't do any work, and promote all the wrong people. The managing director also has almost no managed care knowledge and at one point even attended a managed care 101 (not great when you're a managed care agency managing director!) Finally, the copy team. There are members of the copy team that come in at 10:00 am and refuse to work past 4:00 pm. They also will only work on one project at a time. The copy team loves drama as well so they will talk about you behind your back, report you to HR if you provide any sort of feedback (seriously, any feedback), and make everything about them.

Pros

None. Standard benefits package. Micromanagement. No summer Friday's. No bonus. Not sure about raises so negotiate your salary smartly. If you're at a Jr level, this might be a good place to start. For seasoned creative people, they'll tell you exactly what you want to hear during the interview process, but once you get inside, everything they said "yes" or "no" to will fly out the window. If you have an important stipulation, get it in writing in your acceptance letter no matter how trivial it may seem. Take nothing they say as gospel.

Cons

If you're a creative, you're set up to fail then thrown under the bus. Most of these positive reviews are HR dictated to balance the negative ones. Some of the people there are truly awful and some can get very nasty and chip away at your self esteem. This seems to be supported by upper management. Lots of undermining going on between account and creative. You will get NO support from upper mgmt, who are a big part of the problem. Nobody's satisfied, lots of gossiping behind closed doors. If you're a creative, I wouldn't stick my toe in this toxic well.
