Young Company with a Dinosaur Mentality

Pros

Some nice co-workers, international environment, in-house graphics and illustrator team

Cons

As mentioned in other reviews, the micromanagement at this company really takes it to another level. A significant lack of emotional intelligence meant that leadership was plagued by lack of integrity and mistrust. Not the environment for long-term work-life balance and wellbeing.

Hello, I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. It is hard to respond to your review in a meaningful way, especially as your key points are very generic and unsubstantiated. What I can say is: 1) We invest into the deployment of best practice management standards so that our people can do what they're best at. This includes clear job descriptions and role clarity for everyone. This has resulted in autonomy and empowerment being consistently mentioned as positives in our employee satisfaction surveys. 2) We take every opportunity to hear from our teams how we can do better and what needs improvement through anonymous surveys and fostering an open and transparent culture. We always take feedback serious (for instance, I personally respond to all reviews here on GlassDoor). If this is how you felt, there must have been a way for you to express that, and a possibility for us to resolve the situation.

Pros

Central location, some great team members.

Cons

Diabolical upper management techniques including excessive micromanagement, a culture of intimidation and bullying, a seeming willingness to ignore employment laws as well as being economic with the truth (understatement) and refusing to honor verbal promises – overall, "Trumpian" springs to mind. Reimbursement policy that effectively results in theft from employees (not fully covering costs). Low grade pension plan not divulged until after the probation period (not somewhere you want to spend a long time working or you'll retire with a poor pension), other promised benefits fail to materialize. Poor attitude to employee information privacy rules. Everything is a negotiation that leaves you emotionally drained – even making sure you get your legally obligated benefits. Management often exceeding their level of competence, and habitually promise deliverables to clients that are not within the scope of company expertise.

One of the key pillars of our company culture is transparency and openness, and we use every possible occasion to emphasize and demonstrate this. I take all reports of misconduct seriously but also give staff multiple opportunities to report issues. I would not allow anything like what you are describing to happen in my company. The many topics that are factually incorrect in your review make me wonder whether you are a) talking about the same company or b) are a competitor that is trying to hurt our reputation as a great employer. For all clarity, this is what we stand for: - We always fulfill our promises - We promote a healthy company culture, where bullying or intimidation are not accepted - Have a professional reimbursement structure in place - Have a benefit program (incl. pension plans) that are beyond industry standards - Communicate all detailed benefit information together with our job offers - Provide numerous opportunities for our employees to share their concern in a safe environment as well as anonymous Employee Satisfaction surveys

Pros

Nice people, can be a fun environment depending on who you report to, and more important, which office location

Cons

Overbearing upper management, who are not necessarily expert level in their roles, particularly the "c suite". For anyone who has interacted with a real CEO/COO, the experience gaps will be glaring. There are moments of generosity but mostly it's a battle to get the leaders to pry open the coffers and pay well, or follow through on promises. Apparently, any extra profit is conveniently "re-invested" back in the company, so don't hold your breath for a bonus, no matter how hard you work. I have witnessed employees being treated poorly based on personal perceptions rather than professional competency. There are truly incompetent people who are untouchable, and there are truly hard workers who can't get traction. There is an overall lack of integrity in how employees are treated. I was lied to several times in the hiring process, all of which came to light after I accepted the position - it set the tone and it unfortunately didn't get better. For anyone considering joining... a small company with so much turnover is a red flag, so while there are good things here, proceed with caution and keep your eyes open.

Thank you for leaving your review here on GlassDoor, and I am sorry that this is how you have experienced your time at our company. While I am the first one to admit that leadership is a lifelong study, being one of the fastest growing MedComms agencies in the world also indicates there are many things that we are doing really well. As we are promoting a culture of transparency and openness, we have structured bonus plans in place that leave no doubt about how company success is translated into additional compensation. We understand that our staff are at the core of our success and we are always working hard to see how we can be the best company to work for in all perspectives, including compensation. While you mention a high turnover rate, we are actually tracking far below the industry average. We would not want anyone to leave our company because of the issues you are describing. Therefore, we continue to encourage people to speak up and either speak with their supervisor, our HR department, and/or myself if there are any issues, so that they can be addressed.
