I do think the problem starts from the leadership, specifically the leader Frank Fu, who promotes a very toxic, political, survival-of-the-fittest environment. Agreed with most of the comments below about the global team.
- The global team is really disorganized, with goals and direction changing constantly. Teams have no directions, and many teams are wasting their time working on the same project with no chance of implementation.
- "Recognition and favoritism here is not merit-based - but dependent on your looks and how wealthy and connected you are." - during my time at meitu, there are some employees join the company without necessarily skill-sets for the positions but simply because they have strong family background.
- Feeling like a tool being utilized by the leadership, what he cared most was how to make him look good in front of the executive team from HQ, not how could we make the best products that users love.
- People with experience quit the job fast or not even bother to join the team since they would easily identify that this is not the place that they can fully appreciate their talent. If you want to stay comfortably in the company, simply make your job look good, not "make your job actually good".
