Pros

Loved working with a senior team - very knowledgeable and helped in my professional growth. Working from home is great and very flexible. Great benefits including PTO and company holidays.

Cons

Loved my team and was sad we didn’t get more time to meet up in person!

I didn't realize how bad it was until after

Pros

Like most agencies, the sink or swim atmosphere gives you so many transferrable skills that will help you succeed in future roles. I absorbed so much knowledge from the team during my time at Metis and I still use skills I acquired to this day. Agencies often have a bad reputation for a lack of work-life balance and I believe management at Metis did try their best to promote a healthy balance.

Cons

There really wasn't any work-life balance for me while I worked there. Hard workers were rewarded with more work. I didn't realize how the environment at Metis shaped my outlook on the PR industry until I started my new role after leaving. The pay at the time was not a livable wage in Boston. I was fortunate enough to have a partner who supported us financially during my time at Metis, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to live in the city. The turn over made it difficult to maintain continuity on accounts (common with agency life), but I will say this seems to be a thing of the past as the team appears to be consistent now based on the company's social media.

Pros

As a working mom, I could not be more happy. Not only does Metis have amazing benefits, they are flexible and understanding of anything having to do with your children, within reason of course, and I have never experienced that anywhere else. Management was completely transparent and always willing to answer questions and reassure everyone during the pandemic, as well as any other time. You never feel afraid to approach the owner/President of the company. Even though we are all remote, the amount of collaboration between all employees is encouraged by management and is a constant. There is always room for growth and educational opportunities. We have benefits that even pay for some educational opportunities, as well as other additional training, books, study materials, conferences, etc. Additionally, we have one week company shutdown between Christmas and New Year's Day, extended holiday weekends, birthdays off with pay, four-day work weeks in the summer, 12 weeks paid parental leave, and that's just scratching the surface.

Cons

It's a little hard to write cons, because there are not many. The workload can get a little crazy and stressful from time to time, but the end result is always rewarding. Management is very transparent with and accessible to employees. Again, that has been especially true during the pandemic, when things have been so uncertain. I can't complain much at all.
