Pros

The dedicated staff in the building were amazing to work with. Unfortunately, all the talented and creative people have left, no one could stand working for such an impossible owner to please

Cons

There are only cons. The fashion is dated and mature. A reflection of the owner and she is not the size that others should be having to fit, ESP if they are to continue to be contemporary

We agree that we do have an amazing, dedicated, and diverse staff. And we feel fortunate our employees rarely leave. On the contrary, they are nurtured as the up and coming talent, growing with the Company and contributing to our success as a contemporary clothing icon. Suzanne Lerner, the owner and co-founder has been a driving force behind the success and employee loyalty. She is an entrepreneur, political activist and philanthropist - a caring person who has made it her mission to support women’s rights, both in business and her personal life. Nevertheless, Suzanne listens to all feedback and recognizes there can be misunderstandings. And she will remain committed to both resolving and preventing those scenarios as much as possible.

Pros

Good place to start if you're trying to get into fashion. Great employee discounts, cute clothes.

Cons

Unprofessional, gossipy and unqualified directors in high-ranking positions due to a personal relationship with the owner and not because they are qualified for the job; especially in creative services. Michael Stars wants to be competitive with brands that have done the 'basic tee' business model right, but does not want to invest in the resources or talent to achieve that. They expect to achieve it with an outdated business model and the mentality of "we've been doing it this way for 15 years." Their refusal to adapt to technology slows down the process because projects are not managed efficiently. Further slowing down workflows is the caddy, gossipy culture which distract from achieving any goal they're striving for. Projects are ultimately handled singlehandedly by the few who keep their heads down and out of the drama.

Pros

good discount, small company, most people are nice to work with

Cons

Don't trust employees to do their jobs. Lots of micromanaging and mismanagement of time. Inept people in high positions - much favoritism. Doesn't want to hear anything negative/differing opinions even if it is important information that pertains directly to the success/failure of the business. Would prefer to do favors for friends instead of conduct business rationally. Many people very spread thin. People leave and don't get replaced. Don't know their customer. Trying to be a cool, 20-something brand when they are a missy brand.
