Pros

They do pay well, but have very high turnover and typically don't replace outages in their staff. Great technical staff and good products.

Cons

Inconsistent management style, HR that works in sales as well as HR so there is a conflict of interest, change their minds faster than Ohio changes weather as far as sales strategies. If your a female or a minority...not your first stop as its a very strong old boy network.

Pros

Given autonomy most of the time, to plan and complete your required tasks. In general, colleagues render help without reservations and are friendly.

Cons

Very USA centric organization, where they decide 90-95% of everything. Regional management people serve as puppets for them to execute their instructions. Top-heavy organization and the middle management folks have it easy by just following higher order instructions. Almost zero innovation culture in the organization, poor work accountability of managers and not willing to change status quo. Poor career progression for employees in the regions outside USA. Strong office politics culture in the workplace.

Cons

Michelman used to be a fantastic place to work, but it has changed dramatically. There is so much focus on Corporate growth that Michelman has lost the culture and commitment to people that made it a successful business for 3/4 of a century. Leadership at all levels is indecisive and inconsistent and whenever there is a decision that needs to be made, no one will take ownership or accountability and the buck gets passed. Michelman is losing talent because they are so worried about profits that they take advantage of hard workers by increasing their responsibilities while not increasing their pay. The organization as a whole is understaffed and it takes months to backfill positions, if there is even an attempt made to backfill instead of saying there is no longer justification for the headcount. Opportunities and organizational involvement depend highly on middle management and employees are not afforded the same opportunities depending on who they report to in their chain of command. There is a lot of favoritism and “boys club” behavior. The organization claims flexibility as a perk, but when push comes to shove they are very old school in the belief that office staff need to be present onsite to effectively do their jobs, while also hiring senior managers to work fully remote who offer no presence, support, or involvement to their inferiors. Michelman acts like they’re a Great White when in reality they are a minnow and if they don’t commit to prioritizing their people again (with actions not words) they will not be around for another 75 years.
