Pros

Good pay, that is, if a reputable partner or managing leader deems you valuable and essential. Which they will, if you are willing to sacrifice your entire life and devote it to ensuring their continued comfort and financial gain. IT can be helpful, again depending who you are. Pre-Covid, you were only allowed to work remotely if you were a high biller, or had a partner backing you. National offices can be opportunity to move around but again, it depends if you are liked and can present a strong business need to be in a different location.

Cons

Lack of consistent, honest, and productive feedback across the board. Fragile egos don't want to be told their stuff stinks, so they talk about you behind your back and tell everyone else about your performance issues. Shunning is a popular communication technique used. How you are treated depends on who you are, what your role is, and who you have backing you. Bullying at all organizational levels is rampant throughout most of the offices, and HR either turns a blind eye or completely mishandles things most of the time. Integrity and sincerity is taken for granted.

Pros

Benefits. Location to Transit. Great View. Sit/Stand Desk

Cons

Some questionable support staff hires, borderline bullying, especially in the managing partner's department. Support staff plays into hierarchy so when the managing partner's real estate long-term support staff don't want to do certain things, like billing or sending mail, they farm it to junior support staff. As a result, there are no opportunities to learn, to grow or to even feel like you are appreciated. Worse is no matter what these senior staff will gossip about you and make you feel dread every time you think of work. OT expected if you are the junior staff because the senior support staff will pawn off work to you so that she can leave on time, while you finish their work.

Pros

Some amazing co-workers. Very supportive.

Cons

Staff not valued, low pay, jobs are very tenuous and usually only contractual. Firm spends millions on renovating offices across the country to impress management's egos but does so on the backs of support staff. The firm does not care about staff - only profits. Even lawyers are disgruntled at this firm and seem to have no input in management decisions. The firm has a high turnover by lawyers and staff. Apparently this was a decent place to work a few years back. But awful management now.
