Pros

NYC min. wage is decent, dumplings were pretty tasty, hours weren’t terrible. The Chinese grandmas that folded dumplings are very sweet despite the language barrier.

Cons

Owners micromanage like crazy, they literally watch you remotely over the security cams and if you’re seen being idle for even a second they start sending passive aggressive texts to the FOH iPad. Sometimes there’d be only one FOH and one cook so the *one* FOH person had to take and run orders while also bussing tables, putting together delivery bags, AND doing garnish + prepping ingredients + assembling the cold dishes. And there was pretty much no training on food safety or any guidance on which components go into each dish, but when you mess something up the owners start yelling at you. Plus the dumplings are SO expensive for a tiny serving but we’re not even allowed to take tips even when customers ASK to tip us! Last but not least the work schedules were set so last-minute but you have to put in your day off requests 2 weeks before the biweekly schedule releases, so sometimes you have to put in that request FOUR WEEKS in advance even though they sometimes only release the schedule the day before!
