Pros

- Some of the employees are extremely talented, friendly folks. - No short term contracts. You'll be working a full time schedule.

Cons

- Extremely low pay, and you will be constantly be told to be thankful for that pay. - Client is extremely abusive, requesting impossible services and overtime. They go out of there way to be venomous to the contracted QA. - Mobius itself refuses to protect employees from aforementioned client. - No other clients coming any time soon. - Little to no useful training. The training that is given is project specific and is outdated. - Both the client and mobius are in the process of discouraging developer to QA, QA to developer, and inner-office communication. - The levels are QA1, QA2, Senior QA2, Assistant Lead, and Lead. Promotions and pay rates are completely random. Some people are hired in at QA1 for $15.00 per hour, others are assistant leads or leads making $11.00 per hour. - Mobius management (outside of QA) is completely clueless about what their own company does. - They have a Morale Committee to try and settle the extremely toxic atmosphere, but it really just exists to buy snacks once a month and to spy on employees for the upper management. - Office itself is a sweatshop. Plastic tables lined up, jury-rigged daisy-chained power strips with computers that Mobius is renting from its client. "Trail" to nearby Meyer is a muddy pit covered in thorn bushes. Management discourages use of the door that allows employees to avoid the obstacles. - Use of pirated software for testing.

Pros

Not many. I was always payed on time and they offered a surprising amount of PTO. Nice flexibility with sick days(although this was mostly a side effect from the fact that no one on the floor was important).

Cons

Too many to list all of them in this review. I will highlight the worst of the worst: - Low/inconsistent pay. Pay rarely seemed to be about actual skill and more about what order you were hired or if the manager took a persona liking to you. - Getting a raise was like pulling teeth. I was told a number of times "We will do reviews in october and will talk about raises then". October of course came and went with no raises or reviews. Employees who worked there before me confirmed it was the same way the year previous. The few people who got raises did so with threats of leaving. - The primary customer essentially runs the company. Mobius games QA was birthed from the primary customer closing the majority of their own QA department and seeking a cheaper option. This caused a frightening number of conflicts of interest as the customer continued to run Mobius QA as though it was still their own department and Mobius tried to establish itself as a real QA house. - Management seemed completely unaware of how to establish and run a QA house. Working in QA for 20 years does not mean you have the knowledge or skill necessary to build a company to rival that of an Experis or Volt. - Disturbingly lax security. This is more of a concern for future customers than it is for employees. Office is ground floor with wide windows next to a well walked path. A single card lock on the door is all that separates the public from the open floor. Random people were often let in by employees who did not know better or just did not care. At one point the server that hosted all of the primary customer's builds sat maybe 15 feet from the door! To top it off, the primary customer's computers which still had their product on it were being used to test and log bugs for a separate customer. I once overheard the manager laugh about "How annoying the security measures were at companies like Volt". - If you are already established in QA or Game Development, you will learn nothing from this job besides the dangers of trying to save a buck on your testing. - I have never seen such intense turnover or disgruntled employees. In the year I worked at Mobius QA, there was roughly 90% turnover. Often times people would just get up and leave, but not before sending out passive aggressive emails company wide. A morale committee was established (red flag right there) in hopes of raising the mood, but it turns out that occasional donuts and soda are not enough to fix morale if you are not paying enough or treating your employees with respect. Bottom line is that if you are seeking employment or QA for your product you should steer very clear of Mobius.

Pros

Management wants to work with staff to improve things. Lots of snacks are provided because the job doesn't pay well and some can't afford to feed themselves. Open-door policy with the floor manager (not unlike shouting into a well, there's an echo but that's as far as it goes). Average age on the floor is around 30.

Cons

Both management and the client is incompetent and incapable of empathy or setting ego aside. Classic old guard I've-been-in-QA-too-long-to-get-fired, which means every decision is made based off how butthurt the client's QA manager is. Morale Committee was put in place to try to solve the management issues, but to no effect. Bathroom situation is terrible and there are no designated male/female restrooms -- smells travel quickly and that industrial sized can of Lysol isn't fooling anyone. Toxic and bitter coworkers, maximum passive-aggressiveness, there's a risk of getting surprise fired at any moment if you make too many enemies. Mandatory last-minute OT comes with guilt trips and threats. Very poor, expensive health benefits given after 2 months of employment (Obamacare is cheaper at this income level). Literally any other testing job would be better.
