Working here gets sour real quick!

Pros

It could be good if you are starting out and have nothing to really compare professional work to and all you care about is working from home. The people that work (non-management) are pretty hardworking, willing to put personal needs aside and be on-call at the whim of managers and manager's managers. They provide some monthly funding for home-office expenses. The ones that make it here are hard workers that would that can stomach the game and whims of stupid projects that are deemed to fail. Everyone is given a director title regardless of experience.

Cons

An oppressive place to work it you have been to an actual company with a real business model and management that have actual industry talent. Half of the time you work on things that you know will never make it to market and the other half of the time you need to give false confidence- dazzle and perform like a monkey while you get thrown under a bus. The pay and benefits are a joke considering how hard you work and miraculously sell junk products that competitors are much better at making. The first three months are good then you realize that you were sold a basket of fruit that spoils and sours really quick.

Thank you Anonymous for your comments. I will say that your advice to management is quite valuable and that has been addressed, especially over the last 6+ months. I am truly sorry you had such a negative experience while working at the Company. I don't know who you are, but I appreciate all the time effort you did provide while you were here. As for your other comments, I won't be responding to them here, but do hope you have found peace and happiness wherever you wound up.

Pros

Work from home experience, and non-management colleagues were friendly and smart.

Cons

I question the authenticity of the positive reviews here because they came in suddenly within a week. Based on my experience, I'm guessing the CEO told everyone to go online to give positive reviews, or possibly he posted them himself. This is a small company where the CEO calls all the shots and micromanages. This creates a stressful and toxic work environment. Nobody dares speak up to disagree or challenge the CEO on bad ideas. The negative reviews already on here are spot-on. Turnover is high, transparency from upper management is nonexistent, unrealistic project expectations, zero motivation or appreciation of work efforts. The conference products are mediocre when compared to other similar events. All my colleagues worked 10-12-hour days on top of special CEO random requests. Although there is unlimited vacation, hardly anyone takes any time off.

Pros

On paper Momentum offers many pros but the reality is quite different. Momentum's "unlimited vacation policy" is truly appealing- however that policy is only effective if it's implemented in a corporate culture that actually respects taking time off. Since Momentum does not (you will often receive calls and emails while out of office) this is not something that you benefit from and conversely it will have you wishing for a set vacation policy where you can at least have ownership over your days. For those who enjoy it, working from home is great- however at Momentum you need to be comfortable establishing expectations and boundaries. Because of the high volume of work and unrealistic deadlines, employees often work much longer days. There are jokes about being on the "second shift". Additionally, this is not the type of setting that you can easily step away from your computer to grab lunch or go to the gym - if you do, regardless of what time you started or what time you end, someone will call you out for being idle.

Cons

Imagine two wolves in sheep's clothing and now imagine them sinking a ship. That is what you have with the Co-CEOs. What started as an exciting, promising company has quickly evolved into a sour, stressful environment where the Co-CEOs take dangerous gambles at the expense of their employees. There is no long term strategy and the short term strategy changes every few months. CEOs are driven by their own egos as well as their high-school-like desires to get revenge on their previous employer/competition and the need to appear more important than they actually are.
