Pros
People; our faculty and attendings are fantastic. Diverse workplace, generally progressive. High inpatient, outpatient, and procedure volume. Providing care to many of those who need it the most: impoverished, uninsured, undocumented, homeless.
Cons
Expect to be overworked. Morale is low. Staffing is inadequate across the board; not only doctors and nurses, but also techs, therapists, etc. NYS Nurse's Union went on strike for that reason (Jan 2023). The CEO takes home $8 million annual and pays $300/hour for travel nurses during a strike, runs NFL halftime ads, buys billboards downtown, and makes a 6-episode web-show about himself? While at the same time telling people that their finances are too tight to hire enough staff and pay them adequately.
