Pros

Laid back work environment and ability to do meaningful legal work early in one's career.

Cons

This firm is going through extreme growing pains. They have more work than they can handle, yet refuse to hire more attorneys. This place is a "spring board" for promising young attorneys who have a tough time in today's job market. This place could be amazing if they fairly compensated their employees, provided opportunities for advancement, and mentored their young attorneys. The owner is more interested in the bottom line than the legacy and prestige of his firm or any of the attorneys who work for him.

Pros

If you are in need of litigation experience, you will get lots of it. There is always work to be done and they include everyone in cases.

Cons

As you rise in seniority, you will not be able to choose the type of work you do. No remote work. Pay is low for the amount of work requested.

Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your perspective as an associate attorney at Monty & Ramirez ("M&R") and want to address the concerns you mentioned. We would like to address your post. First, we offer hybrid work options to our associates to work from home, providing flexibility in their work arrangements. Additionally, regarding compensation, we strive to offer competitive salaries to our attorneys. It is worth noting that M&R's pay scale is competitive with similar-sized law firms in Houston and the surrounding area. We also want to remind you that M&R has an open-door policy. If you have concerns about the type or quality of work assigned, we encourage you to talk with any of the Firm's six partners. Open communication is crucial, and we want to ensure that your experience at M&R aligns with your career goals and expectations. You also rated the Firm below average for diversity, inclusion, and work-life balance. As an MWBE law firm, M&R takes pride in being one of the most diverse employment and immigration law firms in the Houston region. Four of the six partners are women, and the Firm's team members are from various racial backgrounds, contributing to our vibrant and inclusive work environment. Diversity is a core value for us, enriching our perspectives and strengthening our ability to serve our clients effectively. As to work-life balance, we support a healthy work-life balance for our attorneys and staff. Based on the services our Firm provides clients, there are times when long hours are required, as expected at any law firm. However, M&R actively encourages the use of vacation days and offers flexible working hours to accommodate the needs of parents and pet owners. Thank you for being a part of our team, and we invite you to speak with any of the partners regarding any concerns you may have to enhance your experience at our Firm.

Pros

You will develop thick skin

Cons

Absolutely horrible management and mentorship with little pay. They love to hire minority women only to overwork and underpay them.
