Pros

The products are effective and well researched. The brand attracts talented employees. Good employee discount.

Cons

Greenwashed and completely profit driven. Unethical practices, lack of transparency and generally exploitative while touting an enlightened and stress relieving brand image. I was excited to work for a women led company, only to be faced with all the horrors of dealing with wealthy, majority white, mean girls looking to build an empire off of the LA spiritual scene. Corporate team lacks leadership skills, organization and basic business/relational tact. They promote a culture of fear based motivation and extreme entitlement. Their lack of proper planning and failure to solve basic issues leads to constant, avoidable emergencies and a highly stressful work environment. Does not value employees, especially at the retail level and expects a ridiculous amount of commitment, product knowledge and skill for the pay, you will often have to perform tasks way out of your pay grade or job description and with constantly shifting priorities the upper management is quite literally impossible to please. There is a clear difference in how they view their corporate vs their retail and commissary team and they make it apparent that they're more important than you. If you are mistreated by a superior, there is no course of action besides leaving the company because their "HR department" consists of one woman who is also the CFO. Their solution to all employee complaints is to fire them. They have a pattern of mistreating employees and business partners. During COVID-19 the corporate team hid away at home while pushing their workers to continue in unsafe conditions and when dozens of employees raised concerns they were swiftly all laid off. They then went on a press circuit and held giveaways to retain their image, deleted instagram comments from upset customers and employees and have failed to complete unemployment requirements for several employees.

Pros

Daily Juice... that's about it.

Cons

This company uses "wellness" as a facade. They work underpaid employees into the ground and put profits over employee safety. From the first day I worked there I was expected to work overtime (without OT pay.. of course), had no They'll work you into the ground until their caddy-dictator at the top decides she doesn't like you. I was fired with zero warning or feedback, completely out of the blue AFTER having opened their store for them (alone. the week after the city experience riots/lootinig... err, safety?) and worked the morning rush. Apparently, it's this company's culture to decide they don't like you with no specific reason why and let you go... after you've gotten them out of the rush, of course. They don't have an HR department, no clear job descriptions, and it's basically a chaotic hell- hole with no work/life balance. Save yourself the headache and press skip next time you see a job opening from them (and because so many people are unhappy or get canned... there will be more).

Pros

Attracts some cool people but its not enough to make this job worth it

Cons

Moon Juice is, in my opinion, a company based on illusion. Do not come to work here hoping that it will be an environment of women in business supporting each other and nice benefits because it is quite the opposite. The company is incredibly profit-driven and currently run by a CEO with a background in giant corporations. It is apparent that all she sees when she looks at employees is an opportunity to make more money, not actual human beings. The owner of this company is also a downright bad person. Employees are extremely over-worked and under-appreciated. The expectations are insanely high and set people up for failure and ridicule. They also rarely promote from within. Many people I knew at the company were deeply unhappy and experiencing burnout. The environment in the office is very catty. Working here felt like being in middle school again. There is a normalized eating disorder culture to the point where I and other people I spoke to felt guilty even eating in the office. Upper management can be very nasty, emotionally manipulative and has no problem gaslighting employees. If they decide they don't like you as a person, they will try to make your time at the company miserable. I've seen this happen to a couple different people. Aside from it being an overall awful place to work, the benefits are also terrible. Unless you are in a management position, working from home is pretty much never considered acceptable. They do not offer paid maternity leave which may come as a surprise if you see how much they use being a "female-run company" to sell their products. If you are considering a job at Moon Juice I would strongly advise that you look elsewhere. This company is not worth the time or effort.
