Pros

The company has done tremendous work for the fashion industry, and by doing so at no cost for its designers, has constantly ridden a fine line between profitability and supporting creative talent like a charity would. Most employees think that a job at NJAL will result in free clothes and an entitled position, while the CEO keeps a tight ship in order to avoid having to charge the designers. The opportunities are endless, it is a fascinating business but it is also hard work. Obviously dont work there if you are not ready to be part of a disruptive start-up. Most of the disgruntled comments below come from entitled fashion interns, who are disappointed they didnt get to go to fashion shows.

Cons

Hard work, sometimes things are quiet, and sometimes you work 24/7.

Pros

Struggling to find a pro - I would rather remain unemployed than risk mental health issues after working with this CEO.

Cons

This is no isolated issue. Every person who walks through the door whether it be year one or year ten of this company quits in tears and mentally destroyed. Don’t think it will be “worth it” to get a name in the industry. This is no legitimate company it’s just the CEO and a staff member and a multitude of lies of how big the company is. There is no business case, just a dying database and a washed up rich kid CEO pushing lies to try and squeeze money out of designers or sell the database to anyone interested. He is laughed at in the industry behind his back so don’t align yourself thinking it will help you break into fashion. You will be underpaid for the hours expected, demanded to be on call 24/7 yes sometimes at 2am and on bank holidays with no compensation and receive obsessive/compulsive rant like bullying text messages day and night from 5am onwards. It is NOT worth your sanity; no human being should have such low self esteem they think this treatment is ok. Worst part of the job; the lies. Lies about website traffic, lies about how many are in the database, lies about when payments have been made (so many people and companies went unpaid due to unethical business practice), lies to obtain grants - and you will be expected while working here to recite the same lies and dig yourself into a moral hellhole of lies to get your wage. Avoid avoid avoid!!! Do your research reach out to past staff on LinkedIn - they will ALL tell you the same story. I challenge you to find one staff member to say something positive of the CEO and the experience they had with this company. Never resign before getting your last payment and never work on a contract level for more than one week at a time without getting payment or you will be left empty handed.
