Pros

Actually have cool coworkers Tiny Desk concerts Tech department culture was really good

Cons

Benefits aren't super great -- like insurance options and 4013b options Power struggles that could impact your team and getting work done Lots of uncertainty -- not a super stable environment or job -- especially for grant-funded roles

Pros

-Great work/life balance -Embraces/encourages diversity -Flexibility to change teams -Health benefits are decent (but premiums not always covered) -Enjoyed my manager and team. That extends to most of the staff

Cons

-Org is top-heavy w/ managers and not enough staff underneath to complete tasks efficiently -There is a disconnect between upper-management understanding what staff does. Bc of this, they can’t properly advocate for work or set proper boundaries for what can/cannot be competes to NPR’s station-owner stakeholders -Current re-org going on in which management is in bargaining with the Digital Media United union (made up of NPR staff). This has created an undercurrent of discontent within staff and takes key members away from their work. -Temporary contracts (some lasting 6+ months with little to no job security) and pay inequalities are commonplace
